The spot really favors the surging Orlando Magic tonight. The Magic will be playing just their 2nd game in 5 days, while the Spurs will be playing the 2nd of a back-to-back and in their 5th different city in 8 days.
The Spurs have also been playing in some very intense games during this stretch trying to advance in the NBA Cup, which they did with a shocking upset at Denver. They followed it up with a 13-point loss at Minnesota, and they weren’t very impressive last night in a 7-point home win over the short-handed Grizzlies. I question how much they’ll have left in the tank tonight still missing Wembenyama and Castle.
The Magic have actually been playing better without Paulo Banchero. They are 9-2 SU & 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games overall. Franz Wagner has been awesome per usual, but Desmond Bane has really taken his game to the next level and become the player they hoped he would be when they traded for him in the offseason. Having a healthy Jalen Suggs this season has made a big difference, too.
This new Magic up-tempo offense has been thriving with more ball and player movement without Banchero. The Magic have scored at least 125 points in five of their last six games overall with the lone exception being their intense 112-109 NBA Cup win at Detroit that won them their group. Orlando is 4-0 SU & 3-1 ATS in its last four meetings with San Antonio with three wins by double-digits. Bet the Magic Wednesday.
